The Region: This region of the Central Sierras features three national forests, Yosemite National Park and the southern end of the 49er gold rush territory. The region consists of small friendly communities, rolling foothill ranches, lakefront homes and remote mountain cabins.

The Communities: Most of these mountain
communities range from 2500 to 5000 foot elevation; well above the
fog of the Central Valley and with moderate four seasons of weather.
Populations range from less than fifty to over 20,000. The major population
and commercial centers of the region are Sonora, Mariposa and Oakhurst.
